There has been a number of problems with signal strength on the new iPhone 4 as the steel band on the edge is the antenna for the phone. When the antenna comes in contact with someone's hand, it greatly reduces signal strength which causes call drops and message delays.Apple is giving out free bumper cases to iPhone 4 users to limit contact between the hand and the antenna.
